Wolverines

location: The wolverine is found primarily in remote reaches of the Northern boreal forests and subarctic and alpine tundra of the Northern Hemisphere, with the greatest numbers in northern Canada, the US state of Alaska, the mainland Nordic countries of Europe, and throughout western Russia and Siberia.

What they eat: Wolverines are far more ferocious and aggressive than their small size suggests. They are carnivores (meat eaters) that both hunt and scavenge for food. They are known for eating mammals of almost any sized including; squirrel, beaver, rabbit, mice, deer, sheep, moose, mink, foxes and many more.

Species: The wolverine is the only extant member of the genus Gulo (meaning “glutton”). Other common names include glutton, carcajou, and skunk bear. The wolverine is the largest land-dwelling species of the mustelidae family, a taxon that also includes ferrets, martens, weasels, badgers, skunks, and otter.

Predators: The mountain lion, wolf, and bear are predators of the wolverine. However, the human is recognized as the primary predator of the wolverine.

Habitat: Wolverines are creatures of cold, snowy landscapes. Habitats where they might be found are: arctic tundra, alpine meadows, subalpine forests, snow fields and northern boreal forests. Wolverines are found both in the boreal and arctic regions of North America, as well as Scandinavia and Northern Asia.

Bunny’s

What they eat: Grass, Forbs, and leafy weeds.

Location: Europe, South Africa, Sumatra and Japan.

Breeds: Flemish Giant Rabbit, Netherland Dwarf Rabbit, Mini Lop, Lionhead Rabbit, Dutch Rabbit, Holland Lop, Rex Rabbit, New Zealand Rabbit, Belgian Hare, Minatare Lop, and Rhinelander Rabbit.

Predators: Rabbits have many natural predators that include hawks, foxes, minks, snakes and humans.

Habitat: Rabbit habitats include meadows, woods, forests, grasslands, deserts and wetlands.

Facts: Rabbits are mammals. Rabbits are lagomorphs. A female rabbit is called a doe. A male rabbit is called a buck. A baby rabbit is called a kit. Rabbits are also referred to as bunny rabbits. Rabbits live in groups called herds. All rabbits except the cottontail rabbits live in underground burrows.

Meerkats

What they eat: fruit, birds, Eggs, Lizards, and even Poisonous scorpions.

Location: all parts of the Kalahari Desert in Botswana, in much of the Namib Desert in Namibia and southwestern Angola, and in South Africa.

Facts: they are part of the mongoose family. They are identified by their long bodies; short, flat ears; and their ability to stand on their back feet. Meerkat coats can be gold, silver, orange or brown with dark patches of fur around the eyes.

predators: Martial eagles , tawny eagles and jackals are the main predators of meerkats. [24] Meerkats sometimes die of snakebite in confrontations with snakes ( puff adders and Cape cobras ).

Habitat: Meerkat Habitat. Meerkats inhabit dry open areas, scrublands and savannas. They inhabit all parts of the Kalahari Desert in Botswana and South Africa. They usually live in places where there is plenty of sandy soil where they can dig elaborate underground burrows.

Dogs

What they eat: meat, vegetables, fruit, Dog food, and carbohydrates.

Breeds: Bulldog, Husky, Beagle, German Shepard, Winner dog, Choo Wawa, Golden Retriever, Great Dane, Grey Hound, Labrador Retriever, Poodle, Pug, and Shih Tzu.

Facts: there are over 150 dog breeds! popular names for Dogs are, Max, Molly, Sam, Zach, and Maggie.

Predators: wild dogs, domesticated dogs, Coyotes, and wolves

Habitat: Dogs are domesticated animals that generally live in the same habitats as humans. However, wild dogs live out in the open and sleep under trees where they can keep an eye on their surroundings.

Wolves

what wolves eat: Deer, Elk, Moose, Bison, Caribou, Musk oxen, Bighorn Sheep, and Rein Deer.

Species: Eastern Wolf, Eastern Timber Wolf, Algonquin Wolf, Baffin Island Tundra Wolf, Great Plains Wolf, Buffalo Wolf, Southern Rocky Mountain Wolf, Melvin Island Wolf, Artic Wolf, White Wolf, and Banks Island Tundra Wolf.

Location: North America, Europe, Asia, and North Africa.

Facts: Wolves are the Largest Members in the dog family. Wolves are legendary because of their spine-Tangling Howl.

Predators: As an apex predator, the wolf has no natural predators. Bears, cougars, and coyotes

Habitat: The gray wolves habitat needs to be a very large area that is all wildland. They also need a large number of prey in this area so they can hunt. Theses wolves can survive in many different areas. These areas include deserts, forests, mountains, tundra’s, and plains.

 

Cats

Breeds: Persian, Siamese, Burmese, Birman, Bengal, Russian Blue, Ragdoll, Ragamuffin, and others

What they eat: meat, and normal cat food. they have trouble degusting vegetables.

Facts: Cats don’t have a sweet tooth. When a cat chases it’s pray it keeps it’s head level. When there is a group of cats it’s called a clowder.

Predators: foxes, skunks, raccoons, opossums, weasels, coyotes, bobcats, hawks, and owls

Habitat: Cats are animals that do not have a specific habitat that is suited to them and their habitats can often change; they are referred to as a cosmopolitan species. Cats are able to adapt to a variety of environments including forests, deserts, urban and the homes of humans.
